Kymmenen vuotta sitten keväällä paljastui Ylä-Savossa vakava puute. Iloluontoisilla ja hyväntahtoisilla oluen ystävillä ei ollut omaa järjestöä, joka olisi edistänyt suomalaista olutkulttuuria sekä siihen liittyvää ruoka- ja tapakulttuuria. Ei ollut instanssia ohjaamaan kansaa miedompien alkoholijuomien suuntaa, eikä instanssia edesauttamaan iloista kanssakäymistä oluen ystävien kesken.
Mutta Iisalmessapa oli kaksi mainiota herrahenkilöä, Heikki Ahonen ja Seppo Paldanius, joista tarinan mukaan Heikki otti yhteyttä Seppoon ja ehdotti tapaamista oluen merkeissä. Ensitapaamispäiväksi on historiakirjoihin kirjattu 9.5.1989.

Heti seuraavan vuonna kehitimme “emme enempää emmekä vähempää” kuin olutsämpylän Heikkisen Leipomon kanssa. Se tuli lyhyeksi ajaksi markkinoille Olusilla samana vuonna.
